“This is the thought which Lord Ganesha might be himself laughing about”.
What a waste of money, – Decorations, lights on almost all the streets and making of pandals for Ganesha. How much money have they invested in it all across India – lacks and crores? not less than that! People literally give donations to the God. Are you kidding me? How can you donate money to the creators who created you?
Funny you are or actually I think “stupid” is the word I should go for.
Look beyond the pandals, beneath its decorated lights. Can you see hungry people standing over there, sleeping on the footpath? Can you see those half-naked children who sell toys and books at the signals? How can you see them when you are hiding behind the 20 or 30 feet tall Ganpati statue, which you are later going to perform ‘visarjan’ to submerge in the sea, which will eventually throw it back on the beach side. And, then those same people; you, your family, your friends, your loved ones shall pass by the same broken statue and step over them without a second glance.
And, one-day BMC garbage trucks shall take it and dump it somewhere or you can say dump the crores worth of money. That same money which could have been used to build homes for those homeless people could fill their empty stomachs, could provide education to those little booksellers on the roads.
Indian culture is great but it was the greatest. India lost the letters ‘EST’ from the Indian consciousness because of blindness and fear of mind. What have you learned from Rama, Krishna, and Buddha? It is not for me to tell you. Go and read Ramayana, The Great Bhagavat Geeta, and Wisdom of Buddha. I know you haven’t read it yet. So, if you would have read, then you would have also waited in this manner to celebrate this festival till the time you would see the miseries and plights of those poor eyes screaming out from the shadows of the blinking decorative lights – no more!.
